Golden Coast Seaside Golf Club

The development of Changli Golden Coast Golf Club was a unique opportunity for Scott Miller Golf Design and Qin Huang Dao Gold Sea Real Estate Development, Ltd.

The land is true "links land" which is characterized by its coastal location, sandy soil and extensive sand dunes. The word "links land" is thought to have originated in the British Isles, defining the land that lies between the ocean and farm land that is too sandy to farm. This links land, however, was found to be ideal for golf courses and was the land on which golf had its earliest beginnings. Only about 160 true links courses exist in the world today.

The natural challenges to the player which are unique to a links style golf course versus a parkland or inland style course are the winds associated with open coastal locations and undulating, firm fairways. Deep penal style bunkers and undulating greens will help to defend par on this course.

When routing the golf course, Scott created a journey that begins high on the largest sand dune with a 360 degree view of the ocean and the surrounding area, works its way through open meadows, windswept dunes, wooded areas and finishes both the front and back nines with ocean front holes. The course was designed to vary with weather conditions, short enough to give every player an opportunity but rugged enough to test the best players in the world.
